An interesting fact, if you are using un-insulated dehydrators it is costing you a lot of money on wasted energy due to heat losses.
The formula for heat loss is Delta T x U x SQFT x Time. Our unit is insulated with the best R-value insulation. If you were using our dehydrator 24/7 365 days per year it would cost $473.63 in heat loss energy. (I am using a differential temperature of 80F, 70 degrees ambient, 150F drying temperature) (U value .073) (253 SqFt) x (24 hours) (2 to 4 batches per day) 12 cents per kWh. If you were using many small dehydrators like 99% of all the dehydrators sold out there that accumulated to the same square footage and used these dehydrators 24/7 365 days per year it would cost $6917 in heat loss energy per year. (I am using a differential temperature of 80F, 70 degrees ambient 150F drying temperature) (U value 1.11 Un-Insulated) (253 SqFt) x (24 hours) It also takes longer with small dehydrators so I am not sure how many batches per day you could do. (I am using 12 cents per kWh). Keep in mind also our AirFlow-dehydrators dry much faster because there is much more air circulating through the trays. Thank you!
